The school education system in Australia provides a high quality learning program to school aged students. The school program emphasises developing a student academic knowledge, personal characteristics and social communication skills. After students complete 12 years primary and secondary school study, they can receive the High School Certificate issued by the State Government in Australia. This certificate is recognised by all tertiary institutes in Australia and by many institutes around the world.

13 Years School Education

The school education in Australia is a 13 years compulsory system that starts with a preparatory year followed by 12 years of primary and high school. In some states (NSW, Victoria, ACT), junior high school program starts from Year 7 to Year 10 for four years and senior high school program includes Year 11 and 12 for two years. But in Queensland, Western Australia, Northern Australia and South Australia, junior high school starts from Year 8.
